Study Abroad Development Grants Program 2008 The Office of the Associate Provost for International
Affairs (APIA) requests proposals for the Study Abroad Development Grants
program. The purpose of the program is to facilitate the development of new or
substantially revised faculty-led study abroad programs at the
Grants awarded in this funding period will be for planning
trips and other activities during spring and summer of 2008. Funding Priorities The following activities will have priority for funding:
In all cases, successful applicants will be expected to
submit a full study abroad program proposal through the appropriate campus
channels upon their return, and, pending approval of the proposal, lead at
least one iteration of the program. Selection Criteria
Who is eligible Full-time, tenured or tenure-stream faculty as well as
academic professionals with a teaching appointment at the Allowable Expenses Travel and lodging for planning trips and other expenses
justifiably related to the planning and development of new or substantially
revised study abroad programs (media, books, research assistance) may be funded
through this program. Faculty are encouraged to combine program development
site visits with their own field research. Funding Amount Grant amounts will depend on the type of activity as well as
destination and duration of the planning trip, but typically not exceed $2,500.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to seek additional funding from other
sources. Evidence of additional funding will be considered favorably in the
selection process. Proposal Guidelines Applicants are strongly encouraged to consult with their relevant
college contact from the list below before submitting a proposal. In addition,
the proposal must be endorsed by the relevant department chair or head.
